“The only way to know about the future is to create it.” These are the words of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) member Lalitha Suryanarayana.
As engineers, we strive to use our talents to benefit humanity and solve problems we see in our communities or challenges we may have personally encountered throughout our lives. Changing futures requires changing mindsets, which also implies that we need to understand people, cultures, and a diversity of perspectives.

Karen Panetta (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in computer engineering from Boston University, Boston, MA, USA, in 1985, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, in 1987 and 1994, respectively.
