International Returning Mother’s Day: Dr. Ramalatha Marimuthu’s Initiative for Holistic Workplace Inclusivity Becomes a Global Movement

Dr. Ramalatha Marimuthu has worn many hats during her illustrious career spanning more than three decades. Her diverse body of work includes being an educator, researcher, entrepreneur, impact creator, mentor, and curriculum developer. A Ph.D. recipient in electrical engineering, Marimuthu seamlessly integrates her technological expertise with issues of social concern, having developed gadgets for assisting patients with neurological disorders and created systems for training children with special needs. She has also been a passionate advocate for women empowerment and workplace inclusivity.

IEEE Women in Engineering Magazine strives to recognize women’s outstanding achievements in electrical and electronics engineering as well as enhance networking and to promote membership in IEEE Women in Engineering.

Madelyn Flickinger: Creating connections in medicine

Last summer, as 21-year-old Madelyn Flickinger and her fellow panelists prepared to share their experiences as transplant recipients, donors, and caregivers at the American Transplant Congress, they wondered whether medical professionals would take the time to sit in on a patient-led panel. By the time the presentation started, though, there were nearly a hundred people in the audience. Every seat was taken. People lined the back walls.
